when doing my research on this site for this pump reseal or rebuild job, i came across this bit of gold:
http://vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4353&highlight=injection+pump+rebuildhowever, the post contains cautions that certain procedures are glossed over and special tools and equipment are needed to do the job right and are not mentioned!?
is anyone here able to advise as to what special tools would be needed and what procedures are left out of this diy guide? i already have read about the special tool for the 3 sided bolts and the instructions to mark the following:
"take pictures of the damn throttle springs, mark the position of the throttle shaft on the throttle arm, measure the protrusion of the governor shaft (the one with the reverse threads), measure the protrusion (or count the turns) on the main fuel screw, note the alignment of the main cam plate... specifically the pin that drives the distributor shaft... and put it back the way you found it... can easily get it 180 degrees off... use the keyway on the main shaft as a reference" (from vincent waldon's contribution to linked post above)
also, i already have and know how to use the cam and pump timing special tools for once the pump is back together.
thanks in advance for any help!!!
