I have a 98' TDI Jetta motor I want to put in my 86'
Suzuki Samurai. Can the injector pump be changed to avoid using the computer?
Do a search for m-tdi. You can modify a mechanical pump to work on a TDI, so that all you have is a wire to the fuel cutoff solenoid. No electronics at all.
does anyone know where I can send my pump to be turned into a M-TDI?

yes,yes,and yes! do the swap:)
im sent
i saw them doin a 1.9 td swap(i think it was an idi)on that show extreme 4x4....they were sayin power was good with that. ...
i was imaginin a m tdi thats even "mild" would be way better
want a rock crawler thatll probably run low 15's/maybe hi 14s i dunno ??
build it
I was searching on this swap for myself and stumbled on this thread. So you can have a VW TD work on one wire and have the pump changed? I dont really know much about diesels but from what I have read this swap sounds promising.

yep Giles can do a sick mTDI pump for you. lots of potential! upgrade to some .216 injector nozzles for craaazy power

You don't need to change the pump unless you are using a TDI engine that normally has lots of electronics. The older IDI engines already only need 1 wire. On this list, a "TD" is an IDI, and you will get different answers than what you might need if you confuse the two.
