Were all AAZ's TD?
« on: March 04, 2008, 09:14:17 pm »
I found a suplier for new OEM German AAZ cylinder heads, fully loaded, cam to valves for $400 plus shipping. They do not disclose wheather it's DT or NA. So is there a difference, if so, is it the ex. valves. :?:

Thank you libbybapa for your reply. Do you think that $400 is a good deal for a complete cylinder head. It's for my 1.6TD Scirocco drag project.

have you checked with
http://www.aluminumheads.com/  (PDX)

they've done all my TD's

If I'm not mistaken, I think you are safe once you get into the HYD heads, as I think they are all TD compatible.  I have some HYD 1.6 configuration heads on my AAZ's. They were long blocks and currently N/A, but have 'squirters' so will be TD when I move to higher altitude.

That does sound cheap.  You may want to find out who the maker is if possible.  From what I have read here, quality does differ quite a bit.

I called the supplier and they are OEM parts. New not rebuilt. I'll be buying one as soon as I get the bottom end checked out by the mechine shop. It's a 1.6 TD bottom end, so one of the coolant passages will need to be pluged or welded to make the 1.9 head fit. Same for the 1.9 head oil passage, it will need to be welded or pluged. I'll take pics of the head when it arrives.
