I am looking at getting a manual steering rack for the Mk2. Is this a simple swap in or do I need other stuff as well.

simple... except for getting stuff out of the way to unbolt the ps and bolt on the manual rack.  get an alignment check when you are done, and don't forget to get the u-joint for the manual rack off of the donor car as the ps u-joint is shorter.

You won't need the steering column assembly, just the u-joints that attach from the steering column to the steering rack AFAIK

Manual steering on the cheap, just cut your power steering belt!

No thanks, I want to have the manual steering gearing and am willing to pay for it.

manual steering is nice...  grab the dustboot boot on the u-joint too, it's also a diff size.  the dealer wants a pretty coin for a replacement of a simple chunk of rubber imho - why i epoxy repaired a rip on mine

Looks like I managed to snag a manual u joint and boot. First step in my plan to ditch power steering, cruise control, and a/c   . Back to basics baby!
