How do I know what alternator I need?
« on: March 01, 2008, 01:19:42 pm »
I have a 1991 1.6TD and the alternator is toast. I have A/C but it doesn't work and I would like to delete it completely. Can I use any Mk2 alternator or does it have to be diesel. What is the difference between an A/C vs. non-A/C alt? Thanks for any help.

the difference is in the amperage it puts out... without the a/c system you should be fine with just the regular 65 amp alt.
