I thought that some of you would like this, and laugh like I did.
I was going up hill in 4th gear, pedal to the medal and maybe going 50mph. I think the person who reported me was in a Toyota Prius.

send them the $50 receipt for fill-up with a photo of your ODO and then 16 days later send them your next fill-up receipt with a photo of your ODO showing them that on $50 you went 1000km. attach a note asking if there was anything else they wanted to talk about, like say, police cars idling all day?

then maybe add that you would like to follow up on the person complaining about you with and charge them with harassment .
also if by chance you need to take it in for an inspection ....
on a few of the first generation dodge sites , there's a mod called " valet switch " .
while it kills some power , it also will stop it from smoking till till you flip a switch .
basicly it is a solenoid or vacume switch in the line running from the afc to the turbo , fooling the afc into thinking there is less boost presure than there really is .

now that would tick me off! nieve pencil pushers! thier not doing thier job!
so concerned on getting your address and sending you a letter that they neglected to read further and see that your vehicle is a diesel at the motor vehicle dept.
I'd write back and say if the emmission test station wants to test my vehicle i'd be glad to give you the results!
I know they won't test it but would be great to get a letter from them telling thier counterpart thier an idiot this vehicle is a diesel! in letter form!
well have fun with that!
thanks Duane

A former co-worker of mine got one of those notes from Cali for his diesel Suburban. Cali was nicer, not expecting any follow-up, just sending a friendly reminder that you've been ratted out. They also were conscious of the fact that he may have been driving a diesel and if so to disregard the note anyhow (why they couldn't have checked his DMV records to see this for themselves, I don't know).
He was understandably proud and considered having the note framed.

haha eff that a prius is worse for the environment than an h2. the one day at work i was talking *** on hybrids, especially the suvs, then i found out my bosses wife drives some ford suv hybrid haha. yesterday he told me i should look into a hybrid since diesel is so expensive, i just laughed and said i don't like them. plus i like old cars better, and i like a car thats shaped like a brick, 30 years old, yet gets the same mileage as a hybrid.

if you price out a hybrid vs an older diesel, the price of diesel would have to be around $5-10 a litre for the hybrid to even look good  (cost of owning an older diesel is in the $1000 range per year plus fuel... if that? whereas a prius would be like $5000-10000 a year with payments and god knows how much insurance!!)

I guess the proper fix would be to turn the fueling up higher so they can't see the plate at all

im with this guy... and i'd drive by the neighbors house with the prius and floor it every time while at the same time stepping on the brake a little so you go by slower, more time to leave more smoke...
damn hippies
im just so sick of cali not letting the new TDI's come over here because they are soooo "dirty"
i call BS, they just dont want them to hurt sales of hybrids[/quote]

As far as I know it's that Prius that was flashing their headlights and honking the horn. Anyway, it's not like they found out my name and address, they just called DEQ with a complaint with my plate #, DEQ sent me the smoke notice. Yah, DEQ should of caught the fact that the vehicle is registered as a diesel. What dumb ass's. I think I'll just send DEQ a copy of my REG. That will keep them at bay.
