M-TDI 12mm pumps (rebuild or new)
«

Hello,
I bought a couple of mechanical pumps. I only need 1 for my Polo 6N 1997.
These things needs to be changed to use on a VW TDI engine:
The original trottle cable, injection lines, and pump mounting bracket can be used.
I sell the rebuild ones for €1100 and the new ones for €1400 included sending them all around the world.
Above pictures from the stock pump.
Designed for the M-TDI pump a new bracket.
1600/1900 Trottle cable holder.
One of the pumps installed on my Polo 6N with 1.9TDI AFN engine.

I think you might have a problem selling a pump, even if it can be used as a m-tdi pump for $1600 US dollars.

It might be. I think it's not my fault that the Euro is this strong at the moment. But selling it on the other side may be more difficult.

so these are factory m-TDI pumps? if brand new that price seems somewhat reasonable... considering the cost of obtaining an m-TDI pump that actually works good.

Yes these are the factory M-TDI pumps.
They got a big advanced timing, good caged govenor, normal trottle leaver, agressive LDA pin.
The pumps are from 1999 and 2000 and 2 have been revised in 2007 and 2005.

Yes got 3 pieces at stock at the moment.
I need a little time to change the mounting supports and exchange the govenor spring for a stronger one.
Greetings

FWIW, I have two of these, one currently running with super results on my Vanagon Syncro camper with .216 injectors and larger turbo. Amazing power, and really is a bolt-on. There is no need to change the governor spring unless you desire more than 4000 rpm. The second pump I dissected to compare what the 'factory' (in this case not VW but Bosch and MWM of Brazil, as the pumps are made in Brazil) did internally versus the 4BT pumps I have been using and building. The amazing thing is there are very minor differences. I will be incorporating these differences into the 4BT pumps I build from here on. But it proves to me that we were already oh-so-close to having the 4BT exactly as needed for max power.

@Karl: Strange about the govenor spring. A lot of my customers complain about the max RPM. That's why i had special springs made for me.
Got now 3 different types. On the test bench I gave me the following results. Fuel cut around 4400RPM, 4750RPM and 5100RPM. When I'm sending them out I and there are no questions asked I place the 4400RPM spring and on special request the stronger ones. (I realy like the uncaged covernor.)

makes me wonder how it would perform in a automobile application. I know a lot of Karls pump have been used on vanagon applications where the "uncaged" gov. def. would have its benefits...
DA BRT...have you run "uncaged" in a sedan/car or the like? I just wonder what it is like smoothness wise, etc. through shifting, etc. as the gov is def. setup for more of a "weighted" application like the vans...
Its nice to see that you are providing spring options as well.

What I found out about the uncaged govenor compared to the convention caged one. That the uncaged one is giving a little less fuel at lower RPM and in the top RPM areas more.
But I will double check it when I finished building a caged version with the right ratios (length) to the trottle leaver arm.

just for info, there exist caged governor spring with only one spring in it, I guess the same result than a uncaged spring with the same rate.
Scuse for the hijack.
