Reuse 1.6L TB Idler in a Pinch? Time is running out.....
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:33:21 pm »
Would You?
Normally I wouldn't but, I am supposed to leave for Boston Tuesday... My Parts order that should have been here Thursday hasn't arrived, and UPS still says it's still somewhere between here and Illinois...

I wanted to reseal my pump and do the belts before I left, I found belts locally at Advanced (Dayco.....  :(  Yay.....) but, I can't track down an idler pulley any closer than a 4 hour round trip.

If my parts don't arrive tomorrow, think I would be OK with an idler that isn't very noisy or loose?? or drive the 4 hours for a new one?

I'll probably redo everything shortly after getting settled in Boston anyway as I really don't want to leave the Dayco belts on very long.

The current belts can't stay any longer either...

I think you would be ok, sounds to me like you have enough sense to decide if it's ok to reuse or not.

As long as your planning on replacing it soon go for it I say but then again I cant see or hear the idler.

Does it spin freely and quietly?

Thanks, for the input.
Yes it does, not at tight as a new one but it doesn't seem like it is about to fly apart at the seams either.
