Mounting a VNT to an AAZ. Does this oil return look right?
« on: February 20, 2008, 06:56:35 pm »
Hi, I'm mounting a VNT-17 to an AAZ.  I have a spare VNT-15 that I mounted to the AAZ to test the fitment of the oil return line it came with.  Does anybody know if this is how the oil return on a TDI looks, or is it further down on a TDI block?  It doesn't look like it would get very good drainage if I used this particular oil return line.  Does anybody know of one that would for sure work better?  Thanks.

make a new line.  the oil might not drain properly with that 'snake' line.

does anyone know where to get the exhaust flange for VNT15/17 ?  from there i could get my downpipe made up...

thanks

I made mine out of some 3/8" steel. Just need to drill 3 bolt holes and use a hole saw for the larger hole.

Really?  So the hole doesn't look too high up on the block?  It just looked a little shallow to me.  I wasn't sure if the hole was positioned differently on the AAZ vs. the ALH blocks.

If you position the line over the hole you'll probably find that it wants to sit there. It looks poor but will work.It you could find a pic of the alh that would confirm this.

AAZ, 1Z/AHU, ALH,  the oil return hole for the turbo on the block is positioned at the same place, idem for PD motor.
