thanks for the advice matey, but i didnt spent all those late nights in the garage just to sell my very clean mk2 golf to buy a dog for £300, as alot of the tdi's out there for that sort of money are not worth putting back to former glory.
the car that i have has been in the family for a long time, so i know it inside out.
i have considered selling it, but then i think that all that work was for nothing.

Sometimes this kind of considerations only leads to bad decisions but I agree with you. I made the same choice : keep what I knew good rather than buying something possibly not reliable.

Why all those guys wanting us to throw our cars to buy newer ones - not (necessarily) even better and possibly (much) more expensive to maintain ?

well i no what you meen a have done this my self , first you need a 1Z tdi pump take out the lower hafe of the pump and put it into the aaz pump that gives you the tdi camplate and head to make the psi for the injectors there is other work that goes into the pump , you need to spend a week or to reading up on how to do a M TDI pump there is lots of threads
