i've been looking into this a now have bought a vento TDi with a 1Z engine, i think i might be able to use the original mounts slight modding but maybee, or the other way is to use a caddy subfram as this is what they use to carry out a VR6 conversion, as the mounts sit in the same place a mk3 golfs/vento's but bolt into the polo
also the gearbox is weak so i decided to recon the O2A and use seat ibiza clutch cable as these use the same gearbox but are cable operated, so thats some problems out the way (I hope :shock: ) if anyone else is trying or has done this pls help as i am on a budget thanks again
one last thing whats the easiest way to get 120-130 bhp out of this engine
If I understand it correctly. You want to change the sub-frame from the vento/caddy for the 6N? The Vento is almost similair to the Caddy Mk2 and the Polo Classis, Seat Ibiza, but not to the Polo 6N or 6N2.
They are different, I don't know if it's going to work.
120 bhp can be seen with a remap exhaust and air filter - thats the simple power released!

Progress is going to be slow, as I'm a bit pushed for time. But I'll hopefully be able to find some time to trawl the scrap yards looking for inspiration.

thanks mate i was told that the caddy subframe will fit as this is how the VR6 conversions, but progress with me is slow. but yea any info i get i'll pass over and vise verser is well apprciated. i know a good yard to get most of the stuff. i hope i can get around this some how. i really need more power as i got more body mod's coming up so all show no go ant my bag i need both
Just a thought, the facelifted 6n (is this the 6n2?) comes with a 1.9 tdi as standard, don't they?
Are any of the underpinnings on these the same as the 6n? Perhaps possible to use a subframe from one?
Sorry the biggest engine for the 6N or 6N2 is the 1.9SDI, the TDI version is the 1.4 engine (same as the audi A2 = 3-cylinder)
Little update on my Polo. The engine and transmission are going out next week. First for some mods on the AEF engine (turbo conversion) and replacement of the hydraulic valve cups, timingbelt and a new oil return line for the turbo.
It seems that my other project needs a bit more TLC at the moment.
