I was wondering in regards to this thread http://vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=12474

What is the right gauge to use for OIL Pressure?

Roughtly What oil pressures (IN BAR) are we seeing with these IDI Diesel engines?

Which gauge should I be using?

I'd use the 10 bar  myself, though my gauge didn't go much above 60 psi on my AAZ, I seem to remember people having higher pressures.

The "right" gauge partly depends on whether you plan to monitor at the head or the flange.

The 5 bar is plenty, it only maxes out on cold starts but is more accurate overall because of the wider spacing. Each gauge also requires a unique sender. The 5 bar came in cabriolets and mk1 jettas and gti's and the like.

Not sure what the 10 bar came in audi 4000 maybe?

get the part # off it and I can tell you.

2X, imho, regardless of where you put the sender.

Porsche 924, 944, and 928. The senders are indeed different.

Audi 4k used the same 5-bar sender.

thanks for the info... that's a big help. Now does it matter where I mount this sending unit? Head or on oil flange?

Lastly, does anyone have a picture they could snap off for me so I can see what the differance is between the two! (5 bar and 10bar sending unit) I heard there was a white one and a blue...is this correct?

Even a link to a site that has one forsale could really help me out...
thanks in advance,
