Intake and Exhaust manifold bolts

So people are saying that somewhere online is a place to get good quality intake and exhaust manifold bolts?

Mine are pouched and Im thinking its a sin to remount new manifolds with these bolts

Im going towards racewear for my head studs so who should I go to work my intake and exhaust mani bolts?
Or new OEM ones should be fine?

noone recomends anything?

I know I can get some Oe ones but doesnt someone offer a stud kit for exhaust?

The ones I removed were 12 point nuts on studs
Is this standard ? Ive removed few other exhaust manifolds but none came with 12point nut/studs.

Does anyone know where to get these?

I know i have an ace hardware thats got a great selection of high grade bolts.You might have to get an allen type head though.

This is D24-T specific but a bubdy of mine suggested I goto a local industrial supply place to get new bolts for my intake manifold; mine are getting rounded out. On the D24 they are 6MM allen headed bolts, I've yet to shop around to see whats available locally.

Does the 1.5/1.6L use these same bolts for the intake manifold?

I beleave they were when I pulled them but I cant be sure as there not accessable over the winter...

Could someone help varify so i could just buy new ones as the olds needed replacement anyways!

There are 8mm studs for the exhaust manifold, the same as any 8v Volkswagen, gasser or diesel.  There are also 8mm copper-plated self-locking nuts used to connect these. It is not recommended to re-use the nuts after removing them.  The studs and nuts are all available through any vw dealership or from any online parts supplier.  They are very cheap.  I've also heard of people using the studs from a SOHC Saturn, they are the same size but have an allen-type head on them for easier installation and removal.

On the intake manifold, I'm not so sure.  I think they are 6mm allen, but on gassers there are two bolts that are longer than the others for some types of manifolds.  I would think on diesels they are probably all the same.

I've been looking for another set of studs, but the various online suppliers I've tried (Germanautoparts, autohausaz, busdepot) only had the nuts, not the studs... Dealer time?

I know I'm answering several months late but I figured someone using the search feature might benefit. I just sourced new intake manifold bolts for my D24T, the specs of the bolts themselves are:

M8 allen cap screw
* M6 allen socket size (head of the screw)
* M8 shaft size
* 1.25 thread pitch
* 65MM shaft length

I got mine in stainless steel from a an online vendor, http://www.boltdepot.com, pricey yes but they're good to go. Hope this helps.

The tip about the SOHC saturn exhaust stud is a good one, I'll have to check that out.

Careful when using stainless steel- stainless to iron manifold to aluminum head is a recipe for galvanic corrosion- use lots of copper anti-seize.
