I tightened both my alternator and a/c belts a few weeks ago, checked them yesterday and they are loose again. Is there a trick I'm missing? Suggestions?
Thanks
Robert

Yep. I have a 85NA. After initial belt stretch, they always seem to loosen up. You can help by making sure everything is tightened up. I was always finding a bracket bolt or something that had loosened up. It is just a ***ty design.

I was doing this last night.
I love how you have to remove the AC belt to get the Alt belt off/on.
Wonderful stuff.

I bought a car where someone modded the alt bracet so loose was towards the engine.......as a appose to away from the engine....
Or wait was that the other way around? this guy must have been nutsa because the belt was falling off litterally everytime you tried to start it...
All i know is the bracket was modded... It was twice the hassel
thanks god I got no A/C

warped pulleys cause the belt to loosen faster

usually the pulleys are worn. The belt will ride down and wear off the edge of the pulley making it lose. New pulleys are go to a wider belt. A wider belt solved my problem.

I used to think it was awesome driving around in my rusty, ugly, 28 year old Rabbit with ICE cold A/C, until I had to replace the alt belt...
