G'day..
Demand here in Oz has forced my to take on the setting up of a forum such as this for Australian Golfs. I have downloaded the phpBB software and now need some advice on hosting and installation. Can anybody help?
I've taken all of your advice on board. Security and time taken up with maintenance are my two major concerns. I'm a dairy farmer and time is precious. I'm hoping that one of the forum members that we attract has enough computing ability to share the load with me. How onerous is it?The phpBB website has recommended hosts. Do you have any recommendations? Can the domain be registered as .org?
No update has been done because i just have no time to do it.. I barely have time to take a look at the forum to see if everything is ok and post 1 message/month. Im working 75h/week and working in weekend for my own business. Im gonna have 2 weeks of vacation ( the first in 2 years ) so i'll try to update the board..

G'day, mates.
The forum has taken a different tack to that anticipated. This is mostly due to potential user demand. Water cooled people really wanted to be separated from the air cooled mob and existing forums became "difficult". As you know I'm a diesel freak, but I also have a petrol engined Audi and Peugeot, so I had no excuse not to be a bit more eclectic.
Here in Oz the Golf is having a popularity revival. We even have a Golf 5 diesel or two being officially imported. Goverenment taxes (we have a "luxury car" tax) make Audis pretty expensive so only the well off tend to buy them, and because rust is generally not a problem in such a dry continent they maintain their value. But there are enough owners of used Audis and late model Golfs to make the forum useful. Lots of young blokes are hotting up their Golfs and loving them. Diesels are rare. Aussies simply have not taken to diesel cars (altough there are plenty of diesel SUVs and "real" 4WDs around).
So, there may be little of interest to most of you on this forum, but please visit occasionally and have a look at things down here near Antarctia!
