valve train problems in tuned 1.9s?
« on: May 31, 2004, 12:21:52 am »
just wondering if anyone else has had valve train problems in a tuned 1.9l TD?

I'm asking this because on my way home today, as i was coming to a stop sign, when i downshifted i saw sparks fly out of my exhaust and my intake started making a noise (hard to explain it) so i made it home and started to look over everything, popped off the valve cover and there it was, a shattered lifter on cylinder 1 intake. not sure what happened yet, as i downshifted i did not see higher than 4500 rpm and the cam timing is still good. any thoughts? and does anyone know a good place to get a rebuilt head in SW ontario? I'm in the KW area

first time i've heard of that. bad luck, i'd say.
I've had good luck with cylinder head work from mississauga engines in (suprise) mississauga. You could ship them your head via purolator for less than $20 and have them do it up for you.
I repair, maintain and modify VW's and BMW's.
Good work done at affordable rates. Welding and fabricating, too.
Performance Diesel Injection's Super Pump: gotta have one!
