Feeler: m-TDI engine refreshed with total seal rings.

Projects change...

Anyways, this engine has been quite the project for me, but i'm thinking of another car now.  The engine has all new bottom end bearings (intermediate shaft included) polished crank, etc.  cylinders lightly honed with new Goetz rings modified with total seal rings installed.  should be good for high boost applications with minimal blowby  .

turbo is the VNT17 that is closer to a VNT-15, but should still be good for around 18 or so PSI.  when i bought that turbo Tintin gave me all his linkages (and boost can), which if you haven't seen, work extremely well to create some serious boost, and keep it controlled properly.  the turbo has the adapter plate to fit on the 1.6TD manifold.

the head has been cleaned inside and out (no more sticky residue from the EGR system) has new lifters, all new seals and guides.  re-used the valves.  has been minimally shaved and has a very good polish on it. injectors have .216 nozzles installed by Giles.

now for the pump.  i haven't got Giles to do the pump yet, but i have a 11mm pump head that i was going to put on.  considering the price of getting the pump done up by Giles, am i crazy in asking $4000 for the complete engine?  i have an alternator that could work for this motor too.

any input would be great! thanks.

pics of the engine build.  i guess i can get some pics of the turbo some other time.. just want to see if there is any interest in an mTDI engine.

nobody out there wanting an mTDI?  can easily go out and buy a nice used block and slap a mech pump on it, but the intake will still be all gummed up

it sounds like alot but building motors isn't cheap... it'd probably be better for you to part it out

Maybe...might pull that with the pump on it. Parting may be the better option though...

just trying to give the opportunity to someone who has thought about going this route.. i'm pretty sure i'm either breaking even, or losing.  Tintin already lost money on the turbo he sold me for this so as you can see nobody's really making money.  this would be the ideal setup for some newbie.

my project plans are to switch to an audi.  our laws here suck now.  the new HTA racing legislation allows cops to give us huge fines for things such as squeeling tires during turns, or just squeeling on purpose, speeding over 50km/h, etc.  its pretty bull *** so i don't want a little zippy car anymore.  already with my red jetta i push it to its limits and well you know  (this thing sucks... crappy mileage.. it handles alright and there seems to be power but....)  so yea i want a nice comfy car.  the jetta i drive is *** to take on trips  .  i figure if i'm going to dump money into any car, it'll be one that will last.

now yes audi is quite expensive, but not if well maintained/driven.  i'll be sourcing some parts from europe to eventually convert it to diesel.  by no way will i be sticking with the gas guzzler under the hood.   i may just leave the auto box in it as well, unless the 5 speed conversion is reasonably priced.  (but 6 speed is more desireable)

so that's it.   i supposed if i sold it in pieces to be built i could part ways with it as is for around $2900.   thing is the pump was tested by Giles and he said the fueling was just stupid crazy high.  probably would have blown the engine

this thing should easily produce a reliable 150-160hp.  just use good oil and don't let it overheat (won't be because of the engine, but rather the cooling system eg. rad or fan or both)

i might 'stumble' upon a very generous amount of coin from some investments in the near future which would fund a really nice diesel project car and if i still have this thing i might just hand it over to someone.  but until then i'll have to see    :P  i'm thinking of a quattro wagon geared towards traveling with a 2.0 twin cam PD engine
