ok i'll try to make this easy to read, i appreciate any help that comes my way.
PROBLEM- 94 Golf AAZ was idling fine, than seemed to be struggling for fuel and stalled and now hasn't started since
Things ive checked
-No fuel in return/send lines at the pump or filter
-I do have 12v going to my IP, all electrical connections and wires look fine
-glow plugs are new and getting voltage
-fuel filter is new
-IP just went under a full rebuild about 1000kms ago
-car has half a tank in it and sending unit is reading 118 ohms
-checked all fuel lines for leaks or cracks from front to rear- all seemed fine
-i tried makig a temporary tank with some 5/16 fuel line going from the IP to a jerry can full of diesel but the pump wouldn't suck any diesel in (could have just been because the jerry can wasn't pressurized?)
BIGGEST FIND
-i tried bleeding the fuel system at by cracking open the injectior lines at the injectors and when i did i got fuel squirting out but still no fuel in the lines going into the IP :screwy:
Question, -does this sound like an internal IP problem?, possibly one of the seals that the shop installed wasnt put in right and after a little driving it fell out and screwed the thing up? I checked the entire fuel system front to back and there is only a sending unit, lines leading directly to the filter which than leads directly to the IP so maybe my sending unit got clogged up but shouldn't the IP be able to suck fuel out of the jerry can/ and how can i have fuel squirting out at the injectors when i crack them but not have any fuel going into the IP?
well the ip should be primed. get a vacuum pump and suck on the out port of the IP. sometimes they suck and sometimes they don't... if they are primed they might have enough suck in them to get the fuel in but its doubtful...
got it fixed!!!
thanks for the info, in the end i got a funnel and filled the fuel filter and send line up with diesel then after a little bleeding it fired up (ran poorly) now that i knew it was getting fuel i went back and tightened everything and it fired up and idled mint. let it run for half an hour and surely enough that was all it took to get that damn thing sucking fuel from the tank again
princess auto has a vacuum pump on sale for like $50 bucks or so... if you dont have one i would suggest you get one. for future filter changes of course
Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but, can someone tell me where the "out" port is in the AAZ IP?
I've had a terrible few days with a truck that ran fine, a few days ago. It was gelled diesel at first and I think in the process, I got some air in the lines.
Thanks! (I have a vacuum pump)
The out line is at the end of the pump with the high pressure lines going to the injectors.
