mech. pump-airfreight from UK

Howzit guys,

Need to get some input about bringing in a TD pump from the UK to the states.   Anyone have any experience w/ that, mainly the cost for airfreight/insur. etc.

I recently won a 12mm Bosch TD pump(0-460-242-037 VE- recond.) on e-bay for $186.90us  The seller who is located in the UK said that the only way the pump will be sent is by airfreight @ $168.24us/ 204.33ca.  & another $18.70us/ 22.70ca. for mandatory insur.   This seems rather high to me, am I being taken or does that sound about right?  The total cost for the pump + freight+ insur. would come out to $373.84,  hardly the deal I thought!!!!! :x    What kind of insur. is that @ $18.70 anyway! :?

I've been ripped off on e-bay before & I don't want to be taken a sucker by paying more than I have to.  May have to bail out of this one & risk getting my first neg. feedback on my unblem.  241 positives

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

aloha!   ....renny

That does seem very high.  Especially when you consider that all the major shippers are worldwide now.  Why is he refusing to do UPS, FedEx, or even DHL?  I would assume that they all would be much cheaper.
