Can you post pictures of your relocated batteries? My battery mounting plate is rusted and I'm thinking of relocating it so that I can fit an intercooler in the engine bay at some point. Thanks for the help.
There is room in the trunk on the ledge for a battery box on either side of the car in a MK2 or 3 Jetta. We don't know what car you have so can't help more. Cheers Dan
I'll take a picture of mine tomorrow.
my brother can get huge batteries... but they are like 1000CCA+ so i really want one (cheap $ too but good quality) so i'm looking to relocate myself as well.
one gauge all the way to the front. don't forget that you want something like a pillar somewhere for boosting purposes (like the Audi 5000. i think the 4000 has the battery up front?) i wouldn't use the chassis as the main source of the ground either. good way to rust your chassis faster through electrolysis. run a nice 1 gauge right to the starter and maybe block... that should suffice

is much juice really lost when moving the battery to the rear? some people say there is a lot of power loss, but with 1 gauge wires??? maybe 6-7 feet of cable? i might end up making my own box too if the battery is too big.
With 600AMP ANL fuse, and I do not see any difference for the starting RPM, just a little lag for the first 1 second of starting.
I made stock-car ice race during 7 years with this same battery set-up, modified V8 chevrolet motor, after a week at -25 and the engine started just fine.
Oh, I forgot to mention...my car is a mk1 rabbit.
