Has anyone ever swapped an AAZ TD pump into a late eighties 1.6 TD? I have spent about 30 hours on the old 1.6 pump and I am done! I am looking at an AAZ pump on the bench or wait till next Thursday to go drop $700 plus taxes for a rebuilt of the same vintage as the original. It looks like there is a hydraulic /solenoid control on the front side of the AAZ pump which I suspect is for fast idle or some such idea but I don't think that it would matter much whether or not it was operable. Any ideas about the extra fuel load to the 1.6? Looks like the hydraulic valves on the HP side of the head are a bit longer too.
