Went to fill up this morning and discovered the price of diesel has gone up to $1.22/ litre. Is it that high everywhere? Gas at the same place was only $1.06. I did the math and it's nearly as cheap to drive my gasser Jetta with the difference in the price of fuel. Looks like the Diesel might be getting a rest this winter.

yea the pricing is pretty dirty... i'd never switch back to gas though, although they do warm-up quite a bit quicker...

The Shell station near the house Is $3.69
Ya think Shell fuel is any better than the Marathon, etc? I was able to talk to a Shell rep guy who says they are proud of the fact that their fuels exceed the additive levels on all there fuels. He says their diesel is in the 45 range for cetane.

I filled up yesterday for $1.175/L but our regulated price changed today and I'm not sure what it is...afraid to look in all honesty. Gas went up, so I suspect diesel did as well.

That's what I don't get. Your gas and diesel are close price wise. While the diesel here is $3.29, the gas is $2.67, a big difference.

In Quebec city most are at $1.20 but the local gas bar has it at $1.17. They are always 3 cents below prices elsewhere.
When I had my first diesel in the early 90's, fuel was 10c a liter cheaper than gas, which it should be. Now all the trucks and heavy equipment like snow moving machinery have to fill up at these over-inflated prices and guess who gets to pay for it eventually!

Don't forget that in the winter the price of diesel historically goes up due to supply and demand. (Increased heating oil consumption because of temperatures)
But yes I remember when I was a kid looking at signs with diesel being at 49c a litre.
I can't find a historical graph of Canadian gas prices. But if someone can find me some data I can make one.
