So I am in the middle of timing my rabbit 1.6na but I need to adjust the timing. I keep loosening more bolts holding the pump including the ones mentioned in the manual but the pump move  :( . I don't want to have to tap on anything which is usually the last resort. Is there some secret bolt that I forgot?

There are two bolts on the passenger side (one on the either side of the top). There is one NUT on the passenger side (lower center). In order to loosen it, the pump has to be at TDC so that you can slide a 13mm deep socket thru the cam sprocket and onto the nut. Then, there's one last bolt on the lower right corner (driver's side) of the pump. It bolts thru the cadmium-plated bracket that mounts to the distribution head.

If all 4 are loose, and the pump wont' move at all, then tap on it lightly with a rubber hammer.

Let us know how it goes.

I had to loosen my fuel lines a little to help with the adjustment.

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.
