Chipping TDIs in the UK
« on: December 18, 2007, 07:40:44 am »
Hi all,

Has anyone managed to get a TDI (1Z) chipped in the UK?

I've contacted Upsolute's UK agent and they're not interested. I had a couple of emails from Jeff @ Rocketchip earlier in the year, but he's not responding any more  :(

All I can find are companies who will do the PDs as they're nice and easy, but no one is interested in the TDI  :x

I've got new nozzles on the way and I really want a chip to get the best from them

Thanks, Mikki x

Have you tried aligator? he told me it'd be 150euro for the chips a couple of years ago.
Only problem is you'd have to do a bank transfer and use an ecu with sockets, maybe the tune could include a clone of your existing ecu?

Thanks, but I don't speak Polish and his site doesn't speak English  :(  Are there any UK agents? I'm looking at tdituning.pl - is that right?

Sockets are no problem as I'll have to do that whoever I go to.

i'm stuck for ideas other than custom tuning on a rolling road, but i imagine thats pretty expensive

This of course is all performed through the OBD II Port (serial Port) so no ECU removal or chipping involved.

= PD only. No one in the UK is interested in the TDI since you have to take the ECU apart

Mikrotuning are in #1 place at the moment, by virtue of having replied to my emails!

Hi,
emails are like a river and waterfall, once they pass they are gone, please resend.   You can receive chips in the post for your car, and install them yourself.

But my dad had one of their performance chips on his Mk4 Golf made a substantial difference :D

Thanks but it looks like they only deal with the mk4 onwards which can be remapped online. The TDIs need physical modification to the ECU (de-soldering the chips), and thats too hard for 'tuners' in the UK  :(

What is your ecu part number?  It may just require the chip/chips which means you could have them sent to you and you install if they are already socketed.

The chips are soldered, but thats no problem as I can fit sockets myself.

I have a couple of NA tuners in mind. It just depends who responds first with the info I'm asking for

Thanks!

You have PM  :)

This probably isn't the right place to discuss specific vendors...

Mikrotuning is part of the Aligator network :) I can also help with chips if you need. Have VAG-COM cables in stock for $15-20 ea. if you want to take engine logs to help get your tune optimized.

Cheers,
Mark
