hey guys .. im having a problem with my 1.9 td passat.  every couple  of weeks i have to add coolant.  i do not see any leaks and i do not have coolant in my oil. any idea where my coolant is going?? thanx much

could be anything... leaky heat exchanger, rad, hose, head gasket, faulty expansion tank/cap.

you'll probably need to get the system tested somewhere.. maybe even with a UV detection dye.  i guess you could also just use food colouring to make it more obvious.  keep an eye near the head gasket for leaks.  if that is leaking it will most likely give you some problems later.

Wash the engine so it's nice and clean.

You might just have a defective rad cap and the coolant is boiling over

Use one of those gauges and test the concentration of the coolant. If there is more antifreeze then water the water is probably boiling off

thanks guys i think ive narowed it down to a leak around the coolant pump.  i will have a closer look on the weekend
