NA or TD, don't shim the intermediate spring. It isn't going to gain you anything other than a car that's a PITA to drive. The main spring is the RPM limit.

you only want to shim the main spring. period. end of story. never shim the intermediate. it makes your throttle hang and makes it hard to hold a steady rpm cruising down the road.
