I have been to 3 parts stores and can't find the correct air filter for a 91 EcoDiesel.
AutoHaus and my local OE Parts store give part number 069 129 620 and show 85-92 all the same but, the filters are for the older longer air box. The Eco is shorter and more square.
Local Auto Zone and Advanced also show the longer type. The current filter is a Wix and I haven't been able to trace the Wix number back to an OE number.
Anyone know the number?
Thanks,
can you post a pic of your intake/air cleaner housing? I have checked almost every model that could have a different filter but came up with nothing. I can get you the part number but I need to see what you have.
Sure! Thanks!
I have to charge my camera batteries though
, it looks exactly like this one.
I did some more digging too. I think I found it, it may be Part# 191 129 620, maybe same as a 96-97 Passat TDI.
What is really odd is that if I plug the make, model, and year of my Eco into Wix's website they give me a different part # than what the Wix filter in the car is too.
The filter in the car is
Wix# 46240 but if I lookup an air filter for a 1991 Jetta 1.6L Diesel they give me
Wix #42170
ok well if its exactly like the one in the pic then the 191 129 620 is the right filter. Not sure what to tell you about the Wix anomalies. Sometimes parts manufacturers will change the part number of something in th event that it fits additional models or there is an improvement to the design.
Thank You. I'll bring the number by the Local OE shop Monday and pick one up.
It's the same air filter that the 1989-1992 1.8 liter 8valve Digifant gas motor uses (thats the stock filter that originally came in your Carat).
That should help, since most catalogs dont' list the ECODiesel in their catalogs.
Awesome Thanks!
Carat had a K&N When I got, I never trusted those.
