Oil pressure question
« on: November 21, 2007, 04:20:05 pm »
Is it a problem if my oil pressure light comes on for a few seconds when I had my Golf in 5th gear doing 40-45 miles an hour and it started bogging down before I downshifted?
Thanks
Robert

Just wondering. I'm fairly new to vw diesels and just had new rings and many other things done. My car is running great, but I saw the oil pressure light come on today for a few moments and was just wondering. I figured it was just my poor shifting but didn't hurt to ask

Mine has come on before on long sweeping corners when I was going 50-60 ish.  I was a bit low on oil and could have used a oil pan baffle of some sort.  Is your oil low?

No i am full up on oil. Just had work done and it doesn't appear to be losing any oil at all. I was probably doing 40-45 though and the engine was lugging before I downshifted.

It's pretty common, especially with gas VWs. Next time you change your oil you may want to go a little bit thicker if the light is bugging you.
