Stan, go ahead and plug the outlet hose for the BOV. I found a 1" long section of broom handle jammed inside and clamped works great. I think you'll be suprised at how high the boost goes. Then you'll be really wanting a good boost controller. I've made my own, and it's worked great for 6 months now, and is totally adjustable. I'll make a detailed post on how to do it for those interested, soon.
I plugged the BOV (per the Bentley procedure) and did another test run, but am still making a maximum of 12 psi boost at full "throttle" in 3rd gear. Could the BOV be releasing the air somewhere other than out that tube?
VW Racer as long as you plugged the BOV off , 12.5-13 psi is all that k24 is going to give you with NO pump mods (more fuel). It also only takes a small increase in fuel to get higher boost with the non wastegated setup.
Thanks for the info, Andy. I thought there might be something wrong with my engine.
I need to open up the exhaust and do some more research before trying to add fuel. In fact, I really don't know how to add fuel. My Bentley's identifies the rod that sets max RPM (5050-5150), but doesn't get into tuning it.
I think there was a link recently to a page where someone identifies the major go-fast parts of the pump, but that pump looks quite different to mine... :?
In any case, I will be sending it to Giles after I pull the engine.
