Any of you guys out there have any info on bolting a TDI to a Ford Ranger 4X4 standard trans. I have a 24D with the Volvo trans in a Ranger 2 wheel drive, but I would like to have a 4X4 ranger for the winter.
Any info on Ranger trans types that could be used would be appreciated
Ford currently ONLY offers the Ranger in the UK and many places as a diesel - So, you'd be better served to simply get a diesel from a Ranger - it will bolt right up. The Perkins version is really reliable and has a gear driven cam and injection pump so no periodic belt changes.... Mexico and Canda have many of these engines....
I have a Ranger diesel, but its IDI and is a mazda engine. Generally the engines go for £900 minimum here, but are good and the pre-2001 models have a cable injection pump. Good for about 140bhp with just fuel pump tweaks
I HAD A 1984 RANGER WITH 2.2 MAZDA DIESEL, BUT DIESELS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN RANGERS WITHIN CANADA.
IT WAS A TOUGH LITTLE ENGINE ( I WORKED IT VERY HARD ) BUT A LITTLE SLOW.
I LIKE THE RANGER I BUILT WITH THE 24D (I ADDED A TURBO AND INTERCOOLER), IT HAS GOOD POWER AND CAPABLE OF MORE I JUST LIKE THE IDEA OF USING A TDI IN A 4X4 RANGER. MUST BE SOMEWHERE I CAN GET THE ADAPTERS
HERE IS SOME PIC,S OF THE RANGER WITH THE 24D[img]
the perkins 2.2L diesel is a torque monster!
Nicely done. Would love to see a kit out there for the VW 1.6/9's and the Rangers though. Mk 2 bodies in good shape are getting very hard to find.

ACME adapters has kits to bolt a TDI to a Suzuki or Toyota transmission. Maybe that would be a good starting point...
