renault clio trouble
« on: November 17, 2007, 09:51:55 am »
I know its heresy to mention anything but diesel on here but i told my friend i'd ask you guys. Her 1.2 petrol clio keeps dying during acceleration then springing back to life. She says while accelerating the revs will suddenly drop depsite her pressing on the peddle, and they'll stay dropped for a couple of seconds then pick up again as if nothing happened. It happens more when its full of people apparently. Changing down gears (as when it happens it feels like you're accelerating in too low a gear) makes no difference, it still stays at low revs until it decides to pick up again.

I reckoned it was fuelling, possibly blocked filter that interupted flow when more fuel was being pulled through under load (hence why more people more problematic). Before i drive over to hers filter in hand is there anything else it could be?

PS. scrapping it and buying a vw diesel sadly isnt an option, although i'll try and persuade her nevertheless :)
