oil lines?
« on: November 11, 2007, 06:01:32 pm »
hey guys, i have a 92 jetta diesel and just blew an oil line. Its one right from the oil pump, tomorow i'll have to make sure which one it is. I was wondering who might carry these as i live a little ways from any parts shops. Are there any online suppliers?

I suspect that if you are handy with a flare tool it wouldn't be hard to make up your own with the correct sized steel tubing available just about anywhere.

its a rubber hose, atleast where it comes off the oil pump. not sure if going to the turbo. I won't be able to look at it until tomorow but hopefully vip or carquest has it. I'm driving my truck now, but at 3.50 a gallon i'd rather be in my car so hopefully its not to hard to find one.

First, the oil pump is hidden in the oil pan, you can't see it.

It sounds like you are describing the old style (mk1) vacuum pump with the extra CCV in the block right beside it.

Can you get pictures?

well i'm guessing its not the oil pump then. Laying under the car looking up i need to move the powersteering lines to see it. I'll look inot it tomorow and try and get pics, but i doubt they'll come out good.
Thanks

If he had to move the P.S. hoses to
see this rubber line, I wonder if
he's talking about the rubber hose
  for the oil cooler.

alright so what i thought was a leaking oil in fact wasn't(it was a coolant line with oil on it from dripping from above). I got to look at it pretty good this moring, and was wondering how much oil you can lose from the valve cover gasket. I have the cork one and didn't change it last time i had the valve cover off, i thought it looked ok but it did have some oil on it. I think thats where my oil is coming from, i just didn't think it could lose quite so much through it. I have one that i'll likely try to get in tomorow or the next day.
thanks
