It gets more looks here. I am in the process of upgrading my suspension on an '86 TD coupe. Now here are the options I have come up with.

1. factory replacement GTI springs with good shocks not sure exaclty which ones

2. toiko (sp?) 5ways with eibach proline springs

3. koni fully adjustable coilovers

4. kw race coilovers (more then I probably want to spend, but here anyway)

They will all be used with front and rear sway bars (could use some help in the sizing dept.) with the rear preferably being adjustable, and strut tower bracing.

Wheels are 15X7 koing heliums with kumho ecsta supra 712 tires.

This car will see a little drag strip, mostly street, and some auto x.

budget approx $3500.00 not including wheels and tires as they are already purchesd. with this being said I do not want to go overkill for a daily driver (I live where I work so its more just a erand and fun car) but want somthing that will be fun and decently comfortable, and alow me to be somewhat competitve at auto-x.

Thanks for any insight :?

there's no doubt that coilovers offer the ultimate in tuneability, mostly in their ability to change spring rates so economically.
coilovers aside, I was quite pleased with a neuspeed race spring/bilstein sport shock package with huge rear swaybar and no front bar.
I repair, maintain and modify VW's and BMW's.
Good work done at affordable rates. Welding and fabricating, too.
