Naaahh, if it was Fart Cans, Massive Wings, and CF body parts it would be a Honda forum.

lol... some of those wings make me laugh... if only the driver knew just how comical they are.

i mean come on... do you really think your 100 hp (maybe 105 with that k&n filter    ) is capable of putting enough power to the wheels that high speed traction is an issue? lol... most of them probably create more parasitic drag than good

It's on the wrong end for high speed traction anyway. Who wants to be pushing down on the back end of a front wheel drive car? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you want your downward push over, oh, the drive wheels? And just enough over the back to keep it "stuck" to the road?

I think you guys may be a little hard on the guys with the huge wings, fart cans, etc.  They do serve one useful purpose - catching the cops' attention so the sleepers can get by with one less ticket.

I also hate tdiclub. I know I am often apart of the vendor pissing matches on there, I try to be less apart of that site everyday.

:(  Yes I started out on tdiclub back in 2001 as an avid reader before I had my Diesel. It stinks that its gone to hell and a hand basket. I made an attempt to try and get things to change for the better to organize and got shot down with no responses by the mods. I really do miss the technical forum posts from then! Hopefully I will have better luck here. BTW this is my first post ;) is it ok for me to even post here :)?

Well I am here I am in hopes to learn more about the following:

1) VE pumps and how I can build a Electronic one that can rev high and have great timing advancement

2) Porting info

3) General engine building info tips and tricks.

4) Fun, diesel and otherwise.

BTW I dont have the time to post up my current build but if you want to check it out I am hosting it at tdiclub right now. Almost have all the pieces I need to get it done right, but every time I get one step ahead I feel like I have six more things to do...

I was searching the World Wide Web in hopes of finding why the TDIClub has been off-line for almost 24 hours.  For several days, I had been getting a notice when I attempted to sign-in that the website did not support a secure connection. Anyway, this topic here in VWDiesel dot Net came up.

Amazingly, I clicked on all members that posted in this Thread.  The vast majority have not visited this website in over 10 years and many of them in more than 15 years.  There were about two that visited here in 2024 with December being the latest date.

And, ironically, at least three posting here in this Thread are TDIClub members and one of them is still active there because I saw a post or two by them in the last month.

I've been a TDIClub member for 23 years.  I've owned and driven VWs since 1973 and been a VW Diesel Owner since January, 1980.  The TDIClub has been an awesome place.  I visit there almost daily.  No, I've not been active here in years.

Sadly, FaceBook groups have sucked off activity from the TDIClub and I suppose the same applies here.  And, we have to admit, VW Diesels on the road are becoming less and less as each day, week, month and year goes by.

Anyway, I promise to be back here more often and I suggest all to frequent the TDIClub as well.

Nice to see some of the old folks coming back.  I have often thought about purging the membership list of those who have not been here, like you say.  But IF I did that, all the valuable/questionable information any of those members have freely given to the VW community would disappear.

So I wonder what they are up to now, and why don't they stay here?

Well, before there was a website created, VWD started out as a mailing list long ago for VW IDI diesels. I was on the mailing list and it progressed to what we have here.

It was only IDI diesels so yeah...

FB ruined all forums!! FB actually SUCKS!!

Also, when the mailing list existed, I got a factory 1984 Rabbit TD(RARE) for free. Just had to replace a strut and drove it home from Vermont...

I have 2 TDIs and a couple of IDIs and still come here for info over IDIOT BOOK.
