• This pump had worn bushings from the previous owner overtightening the timing belt. This is the result:
  
  
  
  The bore of the pump is worn into by the roller carrier.

• Wow I never thought about that. I guess an overtightened belt would have the ability to wear the inside of the pump too, not just the bushings. Thanks for the picture!

• A belt that is too tight can also break sooner than normal!!!!!

• yeah my friends broke within 20 minutes due to over tightening

• I'd guess that only happens once the bushing is worn past it's limit, the bushings intended purpose is probably to prevent exactly that from happening.
