My Quantum has to go....
« on: October 29, 2007, 05:21:43 pm »
Well...

I finally completed the restoration of my 1983 Quantum TD.  Just out of the shop from the painters. It was to be a gift for my wife.. Alas, she said after 1 test drive that it was too noisy for her liking.. Since I am knee deep in fixing my Mercedes TD,  I now have to let it go.  :( Just did a nice jaunt up Airport Rd to Wasaga Beach and back today, and she was splendid, that lovely T3 coupled with a fresh 2.25" hi flow exhaust was nice. Not that slow with that auto trans as I thought. :o Off the line it was sucky, but once I hit 30 mph, it pulled strong! I so pissed that it has to go though..

Here's some pics of the Quantum for all to enjoy...

Thanks man, I thought so as well. She scoots around in corners real nice, even with it being an auto. Just love hearing the whistle of the T3

Very similar to my 83 Audi 4K TD. Including the infamous E mode 089 auto tranny. Nice job in bring it back.
I have been offered some big bucks for mine ($19K) but that was just talk, I have often wondered what kind of price mine would fetch on EBAY, I'll be watching yours closely

Best of luck....with selling the car and finding a new car for the wife

I saw your page a while back, just drooling over what you did to yours. Actually it was the inspiration to do this quantum.

I found the best way to preserve the 089 transmission was to remove the stock oil cooler and use a real external oil cooler.  :D
