Anybody running 185/70/14s on their MKIII? I want the tallest tire possible without rubbing for fuel economy purposes.

Anybody running any other taller than stock sizes?

Thanks in advance!

p.s. good site for cheap tires: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?c=2&sw=true&cs=185&pc=11206&rd=14&ar=70 free shipping!

I run 185/65-14's in the winter, they're fine on my 97.
The 70's should fit but I'd be concerned with the extremes, like bottoming out while cornering. Especially if your suspension has sagged at all.
I wanted to use 70's as winters, but with studs I was concerned if they touched, I'd rip my wheelwells up

Just as a followup FYI:

The 70's will be 0.4" taller (top AND bottom  ) than my 65's, should clear fine.
As calculated here:

Yep, I got 12.5mm (half inch) greater radius than the stock 195/60/14's

I'll post again once the tires are installed in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again!

They fit, but barely! I wouldn't go with anything taller than a 185/70/14.
In the summer I think I'll run 195/65/14s.
