is there a specification for setting the pump timing using an indicator?
I have done countless idi 1.6 diesels and its a shame the TDI has to use a scanner. I was thinking of checking the lift before I remove the belt and then using it to set it up afterward. this is an 1998 TDI Jetta.
any ideas ?
i would imagine that you need to set everything up to a certain state and then start the motor up, and the computer will reset the timing. if you really want to use your dial indicator why not switch to m-TDI?
I just want to be able to do my own belts iam not used to relying on anybody for my repairs, and cannot afford a vag 1552 scanner but this tdi I just bought is nice and for now Illl keep her stock and stay away from mech. tdi pumps mabey in 5 years I "frankinstien" this one also
