Possible to lower seat?
« on: October 13, 2007, 10:48:52 pm »
OK, I am 6'4".  I only wear a 33-34" length pants.  I have a long body.  Is there any way to lower the driver seat an inch or two?  I have no sunroof so I am at maximum roof height right now.  I fit, but it's tight.  Kind of need to crank back the seat low rider style.

So short of welding a half dome over the drivers side, any suggestions??

scirocco and corrado seats are a direct fit (the adjuster might need messing with but the slider and secure pin will all work)....and they are height adjustable. and have much better bolsters.

Yep Corrado seats work well! I used a set in my caddy and it gave me more head room!
thanks Duane

Most mk2 seats have the height adjustment as well.

You are basically the exact same height / leg length as me Jim and I didn't have any problems in my 92 jetta with stock seats.

My seats are not height adjustable.  Front back and tilt.  thats it.  They are stock Golf GL seats, vintage '85.  Nice shape, not a tear in them.

I fit, but like I said it's a bit tight.       Wife was reading over my shoulder on that one.  She smirked and gave me a pinch.

When I get out of the car I almost always end up with my hair squished flat on top.  Kind of gives me the nice block head look. :)

you can also use a height adjust base, and cover it with your current seat material if you have a nice all-matching interior.

Yeah. It's not too bad to do. I do this mod on all the Rabbit's that I sell. I'm a big guy too, and I drive the cars I sell before they go. In an effort to keep the stock look, but add a bit of legroom, I pull the bases off of 1985-1988 Wolfsburg Jettas with the adjust lever.

Swapping the lower cushion cover takes about 1/2 hour. If you use Jetta bases, you'll have to pull the cover off the original lower foam and swap. Then reassemble.

Good Luck
