turbo options and online stores.

hello.

i need some help from some peoples.

i have a 97 mk3 1.9td. it already has some work done to it. some of you may know the car.. used to be owned by a good guy that goes by the name of optiks. anyways within a month of owning the car.. as i predicted.. i blew the turbo. turbo was a t3. optiks himself had gone through many turbo's too. he recommended i go with a gt25 and stronger rods.

are there any other recommendations for a turbo and what sites to research. i'd like to stay away from ebay for this.

basically i want a turbo that i'm not going to blow. i'm thinking if i get something that can comfortably make 35-40 psi.. i shouldn't blow it running at 25-30psi. i'm not sure if the reason for the turbo blowing was too much boost or if it was something else.

so any links to online shops that sell turbos.. rods and other internal strengthening parts.. pistons and stuff.. even a shifter rebuild kit.. gaskets and other maintainance stuff. would be greatly appreciated. passenger performance's site has been under construction for a while so i can't get that intake off him yet.

thanks in advance

okan

Don't think he has a website, but there used to be a guy in St Thomas, Cherry turbos. Should have some hands on real world experience......

its good to see optiks old car went to a good owner.  I thought he said previously that most of his old blown turbos were junkyard turbos so maybe that was the issue.  But a GT25 sounds like a good way to go.  Good luck with it, that car is amazing.

thanks it is an amazing car. i wouldn't go as far as saying a good owner just yet.. it's been sitting with a blown turbo longer than it's been driving.. heh.. just really busy with work (i'm a truck driver and i drive long haul so i'm never home) and i just changed companies twice.. so cash flow isnt steady and i have bills to pay before the turbo. but this latest company is really good pay so hopefully i can get this beast of a car  ready first thing for next season.

i've heard of cherry turbo's in st thomas but i haven't had a chance to call them. i have their number programmed into my phone but every time i call i get the machine.

who makes good rods and other internals?

i'd like to get a shopping list going and get prices laid out to start ordering the parts in.
