ARP studs; to retorque or not to retorque?

I'm pretty sure re-torquing is only necessary when you are replacing factory bolts with ARP units and you are NOT removing the head.  My friend just got a set for his Honda Civic and the instructions that came with it had a re-torquing sequence included if you were swapping out factory headbolts while leaving the head on the block.  The procedure for installing ARP's after removal of the head did not call for re-torquing, it was simply "install studs in block hand tight, assemble gasket and head, torque using factory torque pattern to 80 ft-lbs." (when using ARP lube, 120 for 30-wt oil)
