Ok, so I was gonna get a used cam from my Uncle untill I discovered I can get one new for $100 from TOP LINE, that's the place that made my head. I just found out that they still make heads complete or bare for rabbits, jettas, fox, quantum and a bunch of audis and every other car out there. Oh yeah, it's also the same cam for hydro and solid lifters, weird uh. They got free catalogs and CDs that you can get from they're website.

I had a brainstorm last night at like 1am. When I got my rabbit the head was cracked so I bought a brand new one w/ a cam and I finally remembered it. So I looked and it has rust on some of the lobes and only light pitting on one or two. One lobe has a small pit right on the tip. Does anybody know if this is usable?

what a pain it is getting valve shims, ordered some from napa and all came except the 3.65mm ones. :x . So I'm still waiting for parts and hitchin' rides. :roll: . I should be rollin' this week though, I've been down for over two months now. :cry:

I have a question. Has anyone been so scared of overtightening the t-belt that it slipped because it was to loose? I wonder how loose it can be without jumping a tooth. Needless to say, I'm kinda worried about it.

if you can twist it 45-90 degrees between the pump and the cam you are good. 45-60 is ideal I think.

wow, fast reply. Yeah, I always had a hard time goin' by that 'cause if you twist hard enough it'll go further than that easy. So this is like with thumb and forefinger and weak twisting? not channel locks :lol: My last IP got rebuilt under warranty but I had to pay because I didn't use a gauge so they assumed the belt was to tight. thanks a lot

yeah relatively easy. Light pressure... It's hard to describe but most people would be able to hold it there for extended periods of time without getting tired. They'd get bored before they got tired or sore hands.

I started it today!!! It ran terrible and knocked loud so I thought the belt slipped but it didn't it was just firing way to soon. I forgot how gutless it is, man, it's like 0-60mph in 3 minutes

. Now all I have to do is fix the heater and I'll be good to go.
