need help finding right speedo cable for my rabbit w/ahu/02a
« on: October 02, 2007, 02:45:44 pm »
Hello, I recently had an AHU with an 02A tranny swapped into my Caddy and I am really not sure what to do for a speedo cable.  I've heard that the early Corrado G60 cable works for a mk2, will it work in a mk1 instrument cluster as well?  Thanks in advance.

i think corrado/mkII has a retaining clip to hold the cable to the speedo, while mkI is screw-on. afaik..

i'm sure it could be adapted

it clips into the back of the clocks as its the same for mk1 and mk2 golfs and screws into the speedo drive on the gearbox

yeah, mine screws in as well, it probably is different in the UK then.......

for future reference of anyone attempting the same, I posted this question on the vortex and the answer can be found here http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3472903 or do a search for Shawn B on the vortex and follow his build up, the info is on pg. 13.

"The piece that comes off from the Rabbit cable is the aluminum threaded collar that turns onto the Rabbit speedometer. I believe bajaguy carefully cut the end off where it was crimped on using a air cut off wheel or a cut off wheel on the grinder (you get the idea, carefully cut it off then clean up the hole to put it back on the O2A cable. Same idea with the O2A cable but this one is plastic, carefully cut /remove the plastic end that connects to the speedometer not pulling the inner steal sheathing around the inner square cable apart. Then carefully crimp the rabbit end onto the O2A cable end."

so you're saying that there is a Passat cable that would screw on just like my Rabbit?
