years of underpoweredness - fuel load screw....
« on: February 24, 2005, 06:45:49 pm »
hey everyone,

Well, last week I finally realised all my troubles when i examined closely the max fuel screw on the IP of my 1.5. looking at the collar on the screw, i realised it had been backed off!!!!! this was from when i bought the car 3 years ago, i just never noticed the gap btween the collar and the locknut. ugh!

so, i backed off my idle as far as the throttle cable would allow, screwed in the fuel screw about 1.75 turns! and started her up. better pickup, and more power! yay!

all this after spending time and money on my 2" straight back exhaust, and my 80mm intake modified airbox...now doing their job properly!

there was actually so little fuel, that i now have added punch to the exhaust note at WOT.....even better.

all those years of wasted driving....

How did you know how much to turn up the screw?  If you over fuel the engine can't you overheat it?

thats very true...  One day I went to see my mechanic, he had a toyota diesel 2.4 N/A, and the first cylinder had 350 psi, second one had 290, third had 200, last one had barely 100...  The person who drove it before obviously let the EGT's get too high and burned the motor :(

Cant drive a diesel like a racecar without intercooling, and modding :P
