harmonic balancer even nessesary

I'm swapping a 1.9 aaz into a mk1 cabrio and i intend to use a v-belt setup.  Do i need to run a harmonic balancer off of a mk 2 1.6td or can i run gasser v-grove pulleis straight on the crank pulley? Would there be excess vibration on the crank or the alternator or p.s. pump or water pump?
