Questions about injection pump tweaks for 6 cyl Vovlo, D24

I don't actually have one of these (hopefully someday) but spend some time on a Volvo board and the question of more power from a Volvo Diesel comes up now and again. I have read here about a guy here (Dr. Diesel?) that tweaks the pumps for the 4 cylinder VW IDIs and his results sound great, can he do the same magic for a 6 cylinder pump? I also have read about replacing the fuel pin in the pump for more power, anyone got a link to the process, where to find the parts etc.
Thanks, Jack

On the old board, 2383 GTD had a turbodiesel in a Volvo 240 that he modded into a very fast quarter mile car, IIRC. He had some great insights into getting the best from the Volvo/VW 6 cylinder turbodiesel.
Unfortunately, someone either hacked his account, or he chose to delete every single one of his posts. So it's now lost to archival memory.

I'm the one that's been doing the pump upgrades for Dr D.
yes we're having allot of luck.
just did a G-Tech dyno run on tuesday and we're getting 115 HP at
the wheels for his Jetta, still tweaking too.
i've done allot of work on Volvo's had 4 myself, i would be interested
in doing a high performance pump for u.

Cool I'll be able to pass the info along to some Volvo owners! And someday I will require your services. So with 115 out of 1.6 L can you get about 170 from a D24? Is there a source for larger nozzles for the older VW/Volvo Diesels to go with the pump upgrade?

hey all, I'm also from over on t-bricks. 'jackbombay' thanks so much for your help! alright, so I'm here now, whereabouts are you located Giles? Sounds awesome that I might be able to get that much power out of my engine with turbo-ing etc. etc. I've been considering a swap to a B21FTi or something like that, but I've decided to stick with the D24 engine. So I am definetly looking for ways to increase the power. ...accidentily made a new thread on this topic as well...

Giles, if you're getting that much horsepower out of a 1.6, how long can you hold it at full throttle?
Do the EGTs spike up so that power is not sustainable? Is this just for a 15 second run, or could you hold it at that rate for 30 minutes up a steep mountain grade?

we haven't got an EGT gauge on his car.
we did about 5 good dyno pulls on his car up thru 3rd gear
at the end his coolant temp was kinda high
we should get a good exhaust temp gauge though

I'm in lower mainland (Vancouver area) of BC Canada. I'm thinking of tuning my pump in some way, I found a way to adjust my idle, i think thats all I've really discovered. I'll look more into it before I actually go messing with it. I'm really wanting to change the exhaust on it too, mines about 70% corroded. Still runs fine, once I can get it started again...
