01 beetle tdi vs mk1 rabbit 1.8t 20v
« on: September 27, 2007, 10:21:30 am »
My wife has a beetle tdi. I recently got her a tech nine chip and cut out the cat. We were in brampton yesterday when a rabbit pulled up beside us and started reving his motor at a red light.  So i rolled down my window and asked the guy in the rabbit what kind of motor he was running under the hood. He smugly responded  "20 valve turbo, faster than your furnace oil burner".  At that point i responded "well see about that" . My wife rolls the window up and turns to me and says " Smoke this looser". The light turns green and the rabbit spins a lot and i hook really well so i pull 3 cars right of the bat. The rabbit made a lot of noise like it was pinging majorly. Second gear and i'm still pulling away from him to my surprise.  I slide into third and by now were exceeding the speed limit slightly, and we both let off i look back and he's 5 cars behind shaking his head at me like i've just cheated him out of his $6000 swap. ha ha ha, oh well so much for your 20v turbo buddy.

gasser turbo is crap.  diesel is the way to go.  don't need to run high octane gas (which he probably didn't if it was pinging)

hopefully the next time you see him he's got a diesel swap

haha orobably has another 30 miles on that engine before it sludges up and needs one of their funky lame water pumps replaced.  then it needsa valve job for 5 more valves thans worth having.  i dont really like any later engines haha excet the 24v vr
