importcarpartscanada vs autopartsonlinecanada
« on: September 26, 2007, 04:00:42 pm »
Anybody know the difference between these two companies?
I priced out a complete brake job and importcarpartscanada was cheaper by 10%. Weird thing is both sites say "Auto parts online canada" at the very top of my web browser.  They are registred to two different people.

importcarpartscanada.ca is owned by Mark Woehrle of Mark's Bug Barn.
Hamilton Ontario.

autopartsonlinecanada is registered to a Dick Pine, Hamilton NJ. 1-866-503-5181, [email protected] who also owns thepartsbin.com

when I emailed autopartsonlinecanada's customer service I got an email back, the header said it came from Victoria, BC but the originating IP traced down to the New York region.

Has anybody dealt with either company? How was the service, shipping, etc? Where did autopartsonlinecanada ship from?

My favourite is bestpricecarparts. It is sponsored by Mark's Bug Barn. I have also used autopartsonlinecanada. I think most of these places get the parts from the same place. I prefer bestpricecarparts (the Canadian section) the best because the shipping only takes a couple business days and they send you your invoice via email whereas the other place never seems to send it. Also, you can log into bestpricecarparts and have an account there where you can view your order history, which is nice for security reasons.

Ah yes bestpricecarparts.com  is importcarpartscanada.ca
It makes the jump after you select the canadian section.

That's weird, I've never bought something online without getting a receipt for it with the package! Do you recall where the item shipped from? I guess you would have had to have a good look at the postage stamp to find out.

I've only used autopartsonlinecanada, I usually get my item the next day with the free shipping. It ships from Toronto or Vancouver (or Victoria, I forget) whichever is closer.
I get an online invoice emailed to me I think
I'm always happy with their service

I use autopartsonlinecanada and shipping it always fast but never order something unless you know it will fit or need it! I ordered a starter for my car since well my starter wouldn't work. I found out why it wouldn't work and fixed it, then planned on returning the new one. Called them up for a return when the starter got here and everything went well, told me the rma will arrive by email in 7-10 business days. 3 weeks and 2 phone calls later I get my rma in the email FOR THE CORE!   so I call them again and the moron said "oh I thought you wanted to send back your core" even though we talked about a refund and the restocking fee so he put in a new rma for me, 3 weeks later I get another rma but this time the refund was only for the starter and not the 75 dollar core charge so I just said *#&$ it and im just going to keep the damn thing.

That really sucks. Customer service is really important to me. Buying online is scary cause if they send you the wrong stuff then you have to argue with them forever to get things right.

One thing I don't get is how they are selling for so cheap? For example some stuff i need.

brake cylinders, shoes, brake hoses, thermostat, temp sensor, PS belt,

It comes to about $120 at best price auto parts and claims to be PBR/TRW/german made etc.

Now the same stuff at Lordco (parts plus, NAPA, etc) is about $220 and is mostly Raybestos chinese made crap.

Are these parts genuine or are they just chinese made knockoffs?

The listings almost always include the manufacturer... and for the most part it is usually OEM.... Febi, Mann, Bosch, etc etc etc.

Oh I know it says it's name brand. I just wonder why it's so much cheaper than the local parts store. I'm suspicious.

Because parts stores/dealers want to gouge you and these guys saw a niche and capitalized on it.

Yeah their must be a huge markup on these things at the stores. Well, so long as nobody has determined they are fake parts then they probably are the real deal.  ***, yesterday I had to get some brake cylinders and they gave me some crap raybestos one's at Lordco. They were smaller and the bore felt kinda sticky and one of the bleeder screws pulled the threads out as soon as I touched it.  What a piece of crap.  So I went back and then they tell me that they had this Beck/Arnley cylinders that are made in Germany. They were perfect! Really well made. They were even 3 dollars cheaper per cylinder.
