OK. Got this girl on the road, but....after a say, 80km ride on the freeway or even a mix of highway/street/freeway (about 100km/h etc) I'll be sitting at the stoplight near home and I can hear a clacking and it changes with RPM. (Sounds like it's coming from the valve train but I'll use a stethoscope to narrow it down). Not present when cold started. Just to throw a wrench into the story, I drove her today for a good mix of town/highway for about 50 km. and not a sound. She's otherwise fine. I've put 3500 km on her lately and averaging 960km per tank of petrodiesel.
Wondering if this is a lube issue (maybe need a better oil pump?) from the oil thinning out after a long run (I use good oil & I let her cool after a run so the turbine doesn't coke up) or not enough pressure to lube the top end? . I would like to put in an oil pressure guage but not sure which of the two senders I should tee out. Finding conflicting posts during a search of this site and the "other" one  . I'm running GTX 15w40 (Synthetic isn't really an option right now). What's all this I'm seeing about a 32mm oil pump and would that fit my sweetie? Or am I getting tunnel vision and should be looking for something else? (btw, she's got 370k on the clock)
Cheers,
Andy
Run some diesel purge in it and get back to us.
As in seafoam? I'll do that as soon as I fix the brake line that ruptured yesterday :-( Might as well do 'em all at the same time.
