Hi diesel heads ! I've just "downgraded" from my beloved kkk 14 turbo who sadly died from poor oil and oil pressure  to a kkk 24 turbo , intercooled .

I have 2.7 TDI airbox , 165 injectors , 1.9 ALH head on my pump, 1.6 N/A cam , governor mod and a 5 cm in diameter free exhaust .

The problem is that the car feels dead .. pressure in turbo builds up to about 0,6 bar , also it smokes a bit ( a lot ) .

I want to take it to about 1,1 - 1.2 bar  and i want the car to work properly . The engine is a bit noisy ( i think that has something to to with advance or something like that ) .

What's left to thinker with ?  what else do i need to make it work good and get some fun out of it ? I'm also a in a pit hole with my wallet so .. DIY things are welcome .

Thank you and i am desperately waiting for some advice .

you could get a repair kit for the k14... k24 are very laggy... but check out the pressure valve in the intake... if you still have the intake from de 1.6

Put a bigger downpipe on and it should do well. I had a Giles pump and 3" downpipe when I had a K24 but it spooled up faster than the vnt in my 01 TDI.
Also, .6 Bar is around 8 psi. All my turbos didn't really do anything until 5-6psi, so you need to get that up to around 15psi or a little over 1 Bar to see that the K24 is a good turbo. It really isn't even lit at 8 psi.

Yeah a K24 with an intercooler is the bee's knees, but you need to be pushing 20 PSI to make use of its capabilities.

also make sure the wastegate isn't sticking, that can make it spool slow.  k24 is a great turbo once you increase boost and crank up the fueling a bit.  if u are going to run stock boost though the k14 is a much better turbo.

Ok .. the problem that i am facing now goes like this ... I creanked up 4 full turns of the screw on the actuator ... it really didn't do anything just that my engine overheats ?? is it overheating from the fact that i turned that screw on the actuator or is it from the fact that the fuel mixture is too rich ? I think there is little air coming at low speeds because it kind of cools down if i drive it  fast . I have a 5.5 cm radius downpipe so that's taken care of .... And how do i make sure the westgate is working ? My only problems now is to make it not overheat , get a good air mixture and raise the boost ... i don't know how to do any of this ..any advices ?

Nobody ? :( I want to know how to adjust the air/fuel mixture .

i've recently found out that i have 144 bar injectors (stock on the sb engine ) and 1.9 90hp head in the pump .

My egt's are lower as i've unscrewed the screw on my westgate but the car is slow ... i know it can do better than this

also , i'm idling at around 900 and sometimes 1000 rpm .... i would love about 1050 per say 1100 rpm as my idle ... it makes the car smoother . How do i properly do that ?

Are you saying your coolant is overheating?  If so, I would solve that first.  Make sure the fan is running, do a coolant flush, check/replace the thermostat, etc...

The "air/fuel mixture" is adjusted by pushing the go pedal. It is not a gas car, there is no fuel in your intake, no throttle plate, etc.

The FAQ section has many threads on "how to make your 1.6/1.6td/1.9 a faster car" read there for basic injection pump knowledge and come back to ask more specific questions.
